Description
Corydalis solida Purple Bird features vivid violet-purple tubular flowers carried in upright clusters above blue-green ferny foliage. It flowers early, typically in March, and vanishes cleanly by late spring, leaving space for summer perennials to follow—ideal for layered succession planting.
This cultivar is shade-tolerant, thrives in moist yet free-draining soils, and is excellent for naturalising beneath trees, in mixed borders, or shaded meadow edges. It’s especially useful in urban wildlife schemes, woodland restorations, and informal cottage gardens looking for strong early impact.
A good companion to Erythronium Pagoda, Scilla siberica, Leucojum vernum, or Narcissus Tête-à-Tête.
