Description

Ornithogalum nutans is a nodding star of Bethlehem with elegant white flowers marked with green on the outer surface, giving it a softer more natural look than upright flowering forms. It is especially suited to woodland edges, orchard planting, informal borders and naturalised areas where a slightly wild spring character is wanted. Horticulturists and gardeners can use it to build a more settled early season effect beneath deciduous trees or through rougher grass margins where bulbs are expected to establish over time. In larger Irish landscape schemes it is particularly useful where spring interest is needed without the stiffness of formal bedding and where biodiversity value is also a consideration.
