Description
Galanthus elwesii is a robust, large-flowered snowdrop native to Eastern Europe and highly suited to Irish gardens. Its glaucous, broad foliage and strong white flowers with prominent green markings make it a favourite for early displays in naturalised grass, beneath trees, or along estate driveways.
Flowering slightly earlier than G. nivalis, this variety performs well in the damp, mild Irish climate and establishes quickly in light shade or open woodland. Excellent for bulk planting schemes where early impact and reliable returns are needed.
It naturalises readily in grass or under deciduous trees and pairs well with other early bulbs like Chionodoxa, Eranthis, and Crocus tommasinianus.
