Description

Hyacinthoides non scripta, the traditional bluebell, is one of the best bulbs for creating broad blue spring carpets in woodland and semi shaded settings. It is highly suitable for estate gardens, historic grounds, shaded parkland and biodiversity led planting where a softer more natural seasonal effect is wanted. In Irish conditions it performs especially well in humus rich soil beneath deciduous trees and along woodland margins. Beyond its visual appeal, it also provides a valuable nectar source in the woodland flowering season.
