Description
Crocus chrysanthus Romance is an early and softly coloured variety producing rich butter-yellow blooms with subtle bronze feathering on the outer petals. It flowers reliably from February to March, even through cold spells, and is one of the most adaptable varieties for use in naturalised planting schemes across Irish gardens and public spaces.
Planted in generous drifts, Romance complements the pale gold of Eranthis cilicica and contrasts attractively with blue-toned species like Puschkinia libanotica or Scilla siberica. In turf or meadow-style borders, it thrives beside Crocus tommasinianus and Chionodoxa Pink Giant, creating a tapestry of colour that supports pollinators while softening hard edges. Lovely in informal plantings or tucked into spring pots.
