Description
Crocus ‘Prins Claus’ is an early-flowering chrysanthus hybrid with brilliant white petals brushed with bold violet feathering on the outer edges. This contrast-rich crocus appears from February onwards, offering compact, low-growing colour just when landscapes begin to stir. It thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, particularly in rockeries, raised beds, or gravel areas where its striking colouration stands out.
In Irish conditions, its early bloom time makes it an excellent companion for Galanthus nivalis, Eranthis cilicica, and Scilla mischtschenkoana. It can also be interplanted with Chionodoxa luciliae for added visual rhythm. A strong pollinator resource, it’s also suitable for wildlife gardens and early bulb meadows.
