Description
Colchicum autumnale Album is a refined white-flowered form of the native meadow saffron, ideal for naturalising in grassland or woodland-edge settings. Flowering leafless in early autumn, it produces elegant, goblet-shaped white blooms that stand out dramatically against darker backgrounds like moss, gravel, or low groundcover.
This cultivar is especially valued in formal schemes or heritage gardens where subtle colour palettes are preferred. Landscapers often use it in orchard grass, wildflower meadows, or open woodland where it can remain undisturbed. Like all Colchicums, it is fully hardy, deer- and rabbit-resistant, and highly tolerant of poor soils if not overly wet in winter.
