Allium cernuum

Allium cernuum

Small Flowering

Description

Allium cernuum, also known as nodding onion or lady’s leek, is an unusual allium as it has slender, straight stem with cluster of purply-pink flowers on its nodding head. When the flowers fade, a decorative seed head remains. Although highly ornamental, this plant is entirely edible and is a bit on the sweet side. Easily grown in sunny gardens, borders, meadows, rock gardens or pots and containers and is best interplanted with other perennials. Bee and butterfly friendly.
