Description
Greigii Tulip Toronto is a compact early tulip for planting where one bulb needs to deliver more than one flower. Its value is in the combination of short sturdy growth, warm coral-red colour, decorative foliage and a multi-flowering habit that gives a fuller display at low height. The flowers are coral-red to tangerine-red, often showing warm orange and golden tones in the centre as they open.
Tulip Toronto is especially useful in places where low-level planting must still look full and deliberate. It suits civic planters, hotel entrances, courtyard containers, estate path edges, public garden fronts, school grounds, raised beds and compact commercial landscapes. The patterned foliage gives extra interest before and during flowering, while the multiple blooms help create a denser early spring display than many single-stem dwarf tulips.
Toronto works well with blue muscari, early crocus, low narcissus, pale yellow tulips, compact white tulips, other Greigii tulips and simple spring bedding. It can be used in repeated groups for a warm front-of-border ribbon, or planted in containers where the individual flowers and foliage markings can be seen close up.
