Description
Lily-Flowered Tulip Strawberry Romanoff is suited to those who want a late tulip with movement, elegance and a clear colour story. The flowers are narrow and pointed, with the graceful outline expected from a lily-flowered tulip. They open in pale yellow-ivory tones with softly feathered rose-pink edges, then mature towards bright white with broader cherry-red margins. At different stages, a planted group can show ivory, pink, red and white at the same time, giving more interest than a static single-colour tulip.
Tulip Strawberry Romanoff is best used where visitors can appreciate the changing colour and pointed flower shape. It suits hotel entrances, estate borders, wedding venues, courtyard containers, civic planters, public garden paths and high-quality commercial landscapes. The soft ivory and pink colouring gives a premium finish, while the red edging adds enough definition for grouped planting.
This variety is useful where a display needs late spring interest without looking too heavy. It combines well with white narcissus, soft pink tulips, cream tulips, blue muscari, dark purple tulips and late alliums.
Because lily-flowered tulips have pointed petals and an elegant open form, Strawberry Romanoff is best placed in reasonably sheltered positions where spring wind and rain are less likely to spoil the blooms.
