Description
Tulip Banja Luka is a vibrant, large-flowered Darwin Hybrid tulip whose flowers are large, upright and highly visible. Tulip Banja Luka is noted for its golden yellow petals marked by strong red flames and feathering. The patterning gives each bloom movement and variation while keeping the overall display within a clear red and yellow colour scheme. This makes Banja Luka useful for locations where the planting needs to attract attention from a distance, such as park entrances, roadside approaches, civic beds, business parks, hotel driveways and public garden borders. Standing 55-60 cm tall and flowering mid-spring, it is built for large-scale visibility and resilience. The flower structure is robust and long-lasting, performing well in exposed beds, civic borders, and formal municipal layouts. Grow in full sun in rich, well-drained soil, ideally neutral or slightly acidic loam. This cultivar thrives in Irish weather, from breezy coasts to sheltered city squares. Pair with yellow daffodils like Narcissus Carlton, Tulip Apeldoorn, or late Hyacinths for saturated spring impact. While only faintly fragrant, its wide-open flower form provides landing access for pollinators. In mixed species beds, it supports pollinator movement and contributes to a functional flowering scaffold in biodiversity-enhancing planting. The dramatic bicolour performs particularly well under mechanical planting conditions, where uniformity and strength are needed.
