Description
Narcissus Salome is an award-winning large-cupped daffodil, admired for its graceful form and romantic, evolving colour tones. Each tall, stately stem (40–50 cm) bears a single, luminous flower with broad white petals that frame a long, flared cup. The trumpet begins as a soft apricot-pink and gradually matures to a peachy coral blush, offering changing visual interest throughout its bloom. It flowers in mid to late spring, providing elegant transition colour between early-season bulbs and later herbaceous displays.
Salome performs best in full sun and fertile, well-drained soils, especially in loam-rich or slightly acidic beds. It thrives in formal perennial borders, civic planters, and roadside floral beds, offering a high-impact bloom with minimal maintenance. Particularly effective when planted in long drifts in urban greenspaces, upscale housing developments, or institutional grounds, it also stands up well to weather exposure.
Its open flower shape allows access for early spring pollinators, and its visual delicacy makes it a natural match for companion planting with Tulip Menton, Muscari armeniacum, or Allium Purple Sensation. Use in formal mixed borders, structured civic flowerbeds, or as a standout feature in rural tourism gardens or romantic memorial planting.
