Narcissus Grand Soleil d’Or

Narcissus Grand Soleil d’Or

A fragrant multi-headed narcissus with golden petals and deep orange cups. Ideal for sheltered borders, containers, and early-season impact in milder areas.

Description

Narcissus Grand Soleil d’Or is a classic, fragrant tazetta daffodil, valued for its clusters of bright yellow blooms with rich orange cups and powerful, sweet citrus scent. Reaching 25–30 cm, it flowers in late winter to early spring and is particularly suited to indoor forcing, greenhouse growing, or outdoor cultivation in mild coastal areas with good drainage.

Each stem carries up to 10 small flowers, forming a dense, floral spray perfect for containers, seasonal displays, and cut flower production. It’s a popular choice for winter scent gardens and retail flower bulbs due to its visual cheer and quick bloom cycle.

When grown outdoors in sheltered spots, it offers important early pollen for bees emerging in late February, especially in coastal microclimates or urban gardens. Indoors, it supports early-season hoverflies or insects in greenhouses and polytunnels.

For winter fragrance planting, pair with paperwhites, early Hyacinths, or Crocus chrysanthus in containers or raised borders. A top pick for scented bulb displays, winter colour, and early pollinator habitat under protection.
