Description
Hyacinth Delft Blue is a timeless favourite, renowned for its rich sky-blue colouring and bold fragrance. Named after the famed Dutch porcelain, it evokes classical elegance while offering reliable performance in diverse Irish garden settings. With a flowering height of 20–25 cm and tightly clustered florets, it creates instant impact in spring borders and planters.
It performs exceptionally in formal spring bedding, gravel gardens, container groupings, and civic planting schemes where consistency and structure are important. Try pairing it with Tulip Purissima, Anemone blanda Blue Shades or Crocus Jeanne d’Arc for maximum seasonal harmony.
Though not a major pollinator plant, it can still provide fragrance and occasional nectar for emerging bees and hoverflies. Best planted in full sun or light shade, in well-drained, loamy soil.
