Description

Eremurus stenophyllus Bungei is a more compact foxtail lily with warm yellow flower spikes that bring a drier more meadow like character to summer borders. It is particularly suitable for gravel gardens, sunny mixed planting and more naturalistic designs where a slightly lighter scale is preferred over the huge robustus forms. For horticulturists it provides an opportunity to introduce the distinctive foxtail lily effect into schemes that cannot accommodate the tallest varieties. In Irish conditions it still requires very good drainage and a warm open site, but it rewards careful planting with a clear architectural lift and strong seasonal colour.
