Description
Eremurus himalaicus, known as the Himalayan Foxtail Lily, produces striking, candle-like spires of pure white flowers reaching up to 150–200 cm tall. Flowering in early summer, it creates a dramatic vertical accent in perennial borders, prairie-style designs, or formal garden layouts.
This hardy perennial thrives in free-draining soil and full sun, preferring open, sheltered sites where its tall stems won’t be wind-damaged. Once established, it returns reliably each year, forming a bold clump with a rosette of strap-shaped basal leaves. Eremurus is drought-tolerant once mature and makes an excellent partner to grasses, alliums, and upright perennials such as Veronicastrum and Delphinium.
Plant crowns shallowly on a bed of grit to prevent rot in wet winters, and mulch in colder regions. Ideal for designers seeking height, structure, and long-range impact with minimal ongoing maintenance.
