Crocus Pickwick 8/9

Crocus Pickwick 8/9

Striped lilac-and-white Dutch crocus with bold, upright blooms. Early-flowering and excellent for borders, lawns, and naturalising.

Description

Crocus Pickwick is a classic Dutch large-flowered crocus renowned for its elegant lilac-purple stripes on a white base. Flowering in March, it offers a strong, upright habit and large, chalice-shaped blooms that catch early spring light beautifully. It’s ideal for naturalising in turf, edging borders, or planting beneath deciduous trees.

This cultivar performs reliably in Irish gardens, thriving in moderately fertile, free-draining soils with full sun in spring. Its bold variegation contrasts beautifully with solid-colour crocuses such as Golden Yellow or Jeanne d’Arc, and pairs naturally with Scilla mischtschenkoana, Muscari, or early dwarf narcissus in mixed displays. Its long-standing popularity is owed to both its durability and its striking presence in both domestic and commercial settings.
