Description
Colchicum autumnale is a hardy, autumn-flowering bulb valued for its ability to deliver unexpected bursts of lilac-pink colour just as summer fades. Commonly referred to as the Autumn Crocus (though unrelated to true crocus), it blooms without foliage in early autumn, with leaves emerging the following spring. This low-maintenance perennial is particularly well-suited for naturalistic plantings, meadow schemes, and under deciduous trees where it can thrive in dappled light and undisturbed soil. Landscapers and horticulturists favour it for extending seasonal interest and attracting pollinators late into the year. Plant in groups for a striking, naturalised effect.
