Arum italicum

Arum italicum

Description

Flowering during April – May, Arum italicum, or Italian Lord-and-Ladies, has two faces. First it blooms a distinctive white-green flower resembling a raised handkerchief with glossy, green leaves and a trace of paler veins. Usually around August, the stem appears with orange/red berries. Easily grown in damp soil in shady or partially shaded areas of borders, cottage gardens, beds and underplanting of roses, hostas and shrubs. Arum italicum is a favourite naturalising bulb as it is not very fussy.
