Anemone nemorosa

Anemone nemorosa

Anemone Species

Description

A native Irish wildflower, low-growing Anemone nemorosa, or Wood Anemone, bears delicate white flowers, often with a blush of pink, a perky green centre and yellow stamen. The flowers sit atop deeply cut leaves that add a richness to the display.  The stem of this plant is flexible allowing the flower to bend in the wind. This plant thrives in shaded, moist but well drained areas in borders, beds, or containers. Anemone nemerosa makes a lovely display by itself or is well suited for underplanting of roses and shrubs.  This anemone is one of the popular naturalizing bulbs as well as being pollen rich and very pollinator friendly.
