Allium aflatunense

Allium aflatunense

Large Flowering

Description

Allium aflatunense is one of the most popular alliums and is easily grown.  It has densely packed purple or lavender spherical clusters flower heads atop sturdy stems that seem to float above the rest of plants in area. It is nearly leafless (except at its base) stems. Blooming in late spring, these dramatic flowers are long-lasting and make a nice transition from the spring to summer. Plant aflatunense in full sun in gardens, borders and beds or placed between perennials or low-growing shrubs. This allium attracts butterflies and bees during flowering. Suitable for naturalising.
