Description
Tulip Novi Sun is a radiant Darwin Hybrid tulip, commanding with its tall, upright stems and glowing golden-yellow flowers. Each bloom stands 45–50 cm tall, with broad petals that radiate sunshine, often infused with warm orange undertones at the base. Its large, long-lasting flowers make it one of the most reliable late-April to May performers, bringing a sense of grandeur and warmth to borders, avenues, and large-scale landscaping schemes.
As a Darwin Hybrid, Novi Sun is bred for strength. Its stems are thick and sturdy, with a resilience perfectly suited to Irish conditions, holding strong in rain and wind where other tulips may falter. Its flowers open widely in sunshine, creating glowing discs of colour that dominate beds and borders, while also offering modest pollen support to pollinators. Planting in free-draining, fertile soils with good sunlight in autumn ensures the most robust performance.
In the landscape, Novi Sun is a tulip of bold presence. It shines when planted en masse in public schemes, along parkland borders, or in formal avenues, creating sweeping golden rivers of colour. In smaller gardens, it provides warmth and height, particularly when combined with cooler-toned tulips such as Negrita, deep reds like Ile de France, or layered blues like Muscari armeniacum. Indoors, its commanding flowers bring a bold splash of sunshine into arrangements, where its longevity ensures extended vase life. In every setting, Novi Sun is a tulip of stature and optimism, carrying the glow of spring’s full maturity into the garden.
