Description
Flaming Flag is a mid-spring Triumph tulip that delivers striking bicolour elegance in structured schemes. Its creamy white petals are brushed and feathered with violet-lilac flames and fine streaks, giving a hand-painted marbled effect that varies subtly between blooms. Standing at 40 cm tall, its robust stems and classic tulip form make it ideal for formal rows, mass plantings, or architectural beds requiring shape consistency and seasonal lift.
This cultivar is widely used in civic planting schemes, public parks, commercial forecourts, and mixed estate beds due to its clarity of form and durability in Irish conditions. Its colour lends itself well to monochrome or pastel planting palettes, and it contrasts beautifully with Muscari Baby’s Breath, Tulip Negrita, or Narcissus Thalia for layered texture and bloom succession.
While Triumph tulips are not top-tier pollinator plants, their single flower form offers limited but useful access to early flying bees — especially when grouped in ecologically layered schemes. For enhanced biodiversity, pair with Anemone nemorosa, or species tulips such as Tulip sylvestris. Flaming Flag is also an excellent cut flower, often chosen for spring bouquets due to its long vase life and intricate petal patterning.
