Tulip Cairns

Tulip Cairns

Tulip Cairns is a compact, fringed tulip with soft pink double flowers with lighter pink and white fringed edges, giving a neat, textured spring display particularly suited to pots, front-of-border planting and close-up schemes. Well suited to premium display areas where the soft pink colour and fringed petal detail can be appreciated, including hotel containers, estate borders, civic planters, courtyard displays, public gardens and premium commercial landscapes.

Description

Double Fringed Tulip Cairns is a compact tulip with a full flower, soft colour and detailed petal edge.  The flowers are soft pink, double and cup-shaped, with lighter pink and white tones on the serrated fringed edges. The result is a flower with a lace-like finish and a softer appearance than stronger red, orange or yellow fringed tulips.

Tulip Cairns is best used where the flower can be viewed close up. Its compact height makes it useful for hotel planters, civic containers, courtyard displays, estate paths, public garden edges, business entrances and front-of-border planting. It is not the strongest choice for distant mass planting or rough roadside schemes, but it is well suited to premium display areas where the soft pink colour and fringed petal detail can be appreciated.  Also a good choice for smaller pots and containers, making it practical for professional containers displays.

Cairns can be planted as a single-variety container feature or grouped with white tulips, pale pink tulips, blue muscari, white narcissus and soft apricot varieties for a gentle spring colour palette.

Fringed tulips have finely cut petal edges that add texture and detail to the bloom, so they should be positioned where that feature will be visible.
