Tulip Beauty of Apeldoorn

Tulip Beauty of Apeldoorn

A tall red-flamed yellow tulip ideal for public displays, civic borders, and large-scale spring planting.

Description

Tulip Beauty of Apeldoorn is a commanding Darwin Hybrid tulip, producing large goblet-shaped flowers in radiant golden yellow gently flamed with red. Standing at 55–65 cm and flowering in mid-spring (April), it offers striking contrast, height, and visibility making it ideal for landscape-scale planting across public parks, municipal borders, or formal gardens.

Grow in full sun in well-drained, humus-rich soil. This cultivar is particularly suitable for roadside beds, business parks, school grounds, or housing estates where strong spring colour and reliable return are critical. Its thick stems and upright habit allow it to withstand rain and wind with ease.

Tulip Beauty of Apeldoorn partners well with other Darwin hybrids like Golden Oxford or Light and Dreamy, and underplantings of Muscari that will extend the season and support pollinators.

While not heavily scented, its semi-open blooms allow pollinator access, contributing to ecological value when used in mixed displays. Its long stems and bold form also make it popular for cut flower use in commercial floristry.

For best results, plant in blocks of 25+ bulbs, spaced at 12–15 cm intervals.
