Eranthis cilicica 4/5

Eranthis cilicica 4/5

One of the earliest flowering bulbs, producing vivid yellow blooms for woodland edges and shaded naturalising.

Description

Eranthis cilicica, often referred to as winter aconite, is one of the earliest bulbs to flower and creates a brilliant yellow carpet effect in woodland and shade planting. It is particularly useful beneath deciduous trees, along woodland walks and in estate gardens where the aim is to create strong natural seasonal character at the very start of the year. This variety thrives in humus rich soil and becomes more impressive as colonies establish over time. It also provides one of the earliest nectar sources available to insects in late winter and early spring.
