Description
Triumph Tulip Striped Crown is a distinctive crown-shaped tulip planted where the display needs more structure and pattern than a standard Triumph variety. Its value is in the combination of shaped petals, pale colouring and red or pink markings, creating a spring flower that looks deliberate, graphic and suitable for close-view public planting.
The flowers are crown-shaped, and appear from April to May, with cream to pale yellow petals marked by rosy-red or intense pink stripes, speckles or variable red patterning. Growing to around 30cm makes it useful for containers, front-of-border planting and grouped schemes where the patterned flowers are not hidden behind taller tulips or narcissus.
Tulip Striped Crown is best used where the elegant flower form can be seen properly. It suits hotel entrance planters, civic beds, estate border fronts, public garden displays, courtyard containers, school grounds, commercial frontages and formal seasonal planting. The crown shape gives a more architectural finish than regular cup-shaped tulips, while the red striping gives the display energy without using a solid red block.
Striped Crown combines well with plain red tulips, cream tulips, white narcissus, blue muscari, soft yellow tulips, dark purple tulips and later alliums. In commercial planting, it is best used in repeated groups rather than scattered thinly, so the striped crown-shaped flowers read as a planned feature.
