Description
Double Early Tulip Shell is supplied for customers requiring larger quantities for landscape schemes, estate planting, public gardens, parks, commercial displays and seasonal spring planting projects. Planted in autumn, Tulip Shell flowers in spring with full double blooms in warm orange-red, each petal edged with bright yellow. As the flowers open, the layered petals create a rich peony-style effect with a strong two-tone appearance.
The flower form is fuller than a standard single tulip, giving greater texture and visual weight in planted schemes. Its orange-red colouring and yellow edging create a vivid, warm display that works particularly well in entrance beds, formal borders, courtyard planters, public gardens and high-impact seasonal displays. When planted in groups, the repeated double blooms produce a bright, fiery effect that is easy to see from a distance.
Double Early Tulip Shell is useful for schemes where early spring colour and a more decorative flower form are required. It can be planted as a single-variety block for a bold uniform display or combined with yellow tulips, red tulips, narcissus, muscari and other spring bulbs to build contrast in colour, height and flower shape. Double early tulips are also suitable for container displays and cut flower use, provided they are planted in a reasonably sheltered position.
For best results, plant in autumn in fertile, free-draining soil in full sun or partial shade. Allow sufficient planting depth and spacing for strong root development before winter. Like most double tulips, the large layered flowers are best positioned away from very exposed sites where heavy wind or rain may damage open blooms. The trade bag format is ideal for landscapers, contractors, estate gardeners, local authorities and professional horticultural customers managing larger seasonal planting areas.
