Description
Tulip Purple Doll is a late spring tulip with depth, structure and a controlled colour palette. The flower is compact, upright and distinctive with goblet-shaped flowers and pointed petals in rich violet purple, with narrow dark green flaming on the outer petals, flowering in late spring at around 40cm high. That combination of rich purple and green gives the variety a more defined, modern appearance than traditional pink, red or yellow tulips. The green flame is not a temporary colour wash but a permanent green flame giving value in designed planting schemes where the petal markings are part of the visual effect, not just a seasonal variation.
Purple Doll is useful where the planting needs to feel deliberate rather than loud. It works well in hotel entrances, estate paths, public garden borders, civic planters, business frontages, courtyard containers and high-quality mixed bulb schemes. It is a better choice for close-view beds, planters and premium displays than for rough verge planting, where the dark green markings would be lost. The dark flower colour gives contrast beside pale narcissus, cream tulips, white tulips, blue muscari, soft pink tulips and late alliums.
