Tulip Pink Impression 12/+

A tall Darwin Hybrid Tulip with massive rose-pink blooms, strong stems, and excellent resilience, perfect for mid-spring Irish borders, beds, and cut flowers.

Description

Tulip Pink Impression is one of the finest Darwin Hybrid tulips, prized for its commanding size, strong garden performance, and luminous colour that brightens both public landscapes and private gardens. Its blooms are enormous, classic tulip cups in a glowing warm rose-pink, shading to softer silvery-pink tones on the outer petals. At the base, the flower sometimes reveals a delicate buttery wash, giving depth and subtle contrast. Standing tall at 55–65 cm, this tulip is known for its stature and resilience, making it an anchor variety for mid-spring displays across Ireland.

Darwin Hybrids are famous for their strength in Irish weather, and Pink Impression is no exception. Its sturdy stems withstand wind and Atlantic rain better than more delicate types, holding their bold blooms upright for weeks in April. Unlike some earlier varieties, Pink Impression flowers in mid-spring, extending the tulip season and bridging the gap between early-flowering doubles and later single lates. Its ability to return for several years when planted deeply in well-drained soil makes it a favourite for landscapers and park authorities aiming for impact with low maintenance.

From a biodiversity perspective, Pink Impression are relatively pollinator-friendly, with their broad, open cups making pollen accessible to bees once the flowers mature. To maximise ecological value, they are best combined with Muscari armeniacum, Allium Purple Sensation, or pollinator-rich Narcissus varieties, ensuring nectar and pollen continuity across the spring season.

In design, Pink Impression is incredibly versatile. It is particularly effective in large drifts or civic bedding schemes, where the scale of its blooms creates a vivid carpet of pink that can be seen from a distance. In private gardens, it shines in mixed borders and containers, pairing beautifully with whites such as Tulip Maureen, deep purples like Negrita or Queen of Night, and soft apricots such as Menton. It also partners well with flowering perennials like Camassia which brings a contrasting textures.

Pink Impression consistently delivers both impact and reliability, making it one of the most indispensable tulips for landscapers, gardeners, and designers.
