Description
Tulip Hakuun is a luminous Darwin Hybrid tulip, producing tall, goblet-shaped blooms of pure, unblemished white that bring a sense of clarity and freshness to mid-spring plantings. Its broad petals and upright stance make it a perfect choice for schemes that demand elegance and high visibility, whether in public parks, estate borders, or private gardens. Standing at 50–55 cm, Hakuun thrives in full sun and fertile, well-drained soils that retain moisture through spring without becoming waterlogged, performing reliably across Irish conditions.
This pristine white tulip pairs beautifully with the rich purple of Tulip Negrita, the sapphire-blue spires of Muscari armeniacum, or the golden tones of Narcissus Carlton, creating striking contrast and layered seasonal depth. For more extended interest, it works seamlessly alongside Allium Purple Sensation or the airy elegance of Camassia leichtlinii caerulea, which carry the display gracefully into early summer. While not the most nectar-rich bulb, its open single form can still attract pollinators on warm days, making it both a design feature and a small contributor to biodiversity in mixed bulb schemes.
