Tulip Golden Oxford

Tulip Golden Oxford

Bright golden yellow Darwin Hybrid tulip with large, upright blooms. Mid-spring flowering. Ideal for mass planting, civic beds, and landscape displays.

Description

Tulip Golden Oxford is a radiant Darwin Hybrid tulip that delivers high-impact golden-yellow blooms with broad, rounded petals and exceptional weather resistance. The flowers are luminous and upright, making a striking impression when planted en masse or used as a central feature within layered spring displays. Its thick petals and sturdy stems hold up well in variable Irish weather, ensuring long-lasting structure and colour saturation through April.

Reaching 50–60 cm at maturity, this tulip is suited to full sun and moist but free-draining soils. It prefers nutrient-rich loam but performs reliably in heavier Irish soils if drainage is improved. Its robust growth and consistent flowering make it ideal for civic beds, parks, and large-scale landscape planting schemes. Golden Oxford is particularly suited to long sightline planting, school grounds, and commercial forecourts seeking bold seasonal colour.

Although not a top-tier nectar source, its open, single-flowered form allows limited bee access, especially on warm, sunny days. It partners beautifully with Muscari, purple or red tulips like Negrita or Oxford, or pastel Narcissus varieties. A cornerstone cultivar in spring colour displays, blending traditional tulip form with large-scale impact.
