Description
Tulip Flaming Purissima s a strikingly elegant Fosteriana hybrid that combines the sturdy, broad-petalled form of its parent with a painterly flaming of delicate rose-pink across creamy ivory petals. Each bloom opens wide in sun, revealing a luminous golden base and soft blush striations that vary from flower to flower. Flowering in early to mid-spring, it reaches a mature height of 35â40 cm, providing valuable structure and tonal contrast during the early bulb season. This cultivar thrives in fertile, well-drained soils that retain moderate moisture through spring but do not waterlog â it dislikes overly heavy clay unless well amended. It performs best in full sun to light dappled shade and naturalises modestly in open borders and woodland edge plantings. Flaming Purissima excels in mixed perennial beds, municipal installations, and refined spring combinations with Anemone blanda, Chionodoxa quamash, or Muscari White Magic. Though its form is broad and semi-reflexed, it offers limited but usable access to pollinators, particularly early-flying bumblebees. Use in mass drifts or tight groups for pastel impact early in the season. Its strong, upright foliage and graceful form lend it particularly well to layered planting schemes where spring elegance is a priority.
