Description
Tulip Flair is a compact single early tulip with intense, fire-toned colouration that makes it an early-season focal point in public, domestic, and commercial schemes. Its broad golden-yellow petals are overlaid with bright red flames, producing a high-contrast, vivid display in March and early April — typically just after crocus and early dwarf narcissi have finished. The bloom form is neat and upright with excellent symmetry, making it ideal for precise mass planting and rhythmic border edges.
Growing to 30–35 cm, Flair holds its shape well through cold spells and early spring winds — making it particularly valuable in roadside displays, housing developments, urban parklets, and other exposed locations across Ireland. It thrives in free-draining soils and full sun, and is a strong performer even in shallow or mechanically prepared beds. Its timing makes it a vital colour bridge between late winter and peak spring.
The single, open shape of the bloom provides reliable early access for foraging pollinators like queen bumblebees, who emerge during mild spells in March. For greater biodiversity value, interplant with early Muscari, Scilla siberica, or species Crocus. It also performs beautifully in small planters and estate pots where structured early colour is needed before taller tulips emerge.
