Description
Species Tulip Clusiana Mix is a botanical tulip blend for planting where a naturalistic, lighter spring display is preferred over large hybrid tulip blocks. It is especially useful for schemes where the planting should look refined, informal and suited to long-term garden settings rather than purely seasonal bedding. The mix brings together the character of lady tulips, with slim upright buds, narrow leaves and flowers that open in clear weather to show contrasting inner and outer petal colours. Depending on the blend supplied, the display may include combinations of rose-red, pink, cream, yellow, white and soft bicolour markings. This gives a more varied and delicate effect than standard mixed tulips, while still reading as one coherent botanical group.
Clusiana Mix works best in positions where the flowers can be appreciated close up. Use it in estate garden margins, public garden borders, meadow-style edges, gravel planting, raised beds, courtyard containers, hotel garden paths, heritage gardens and naturalistic commercial landscapes. It is particularly suitable for informal drifts, repeated groups and planting schemes where bulbs are intended to sit naturally among grasses, low perennials and early spring groundcover.
This mix combines well with blue muscari, early crocus, low narcissus, fine grasses, compact alliums, white species tulips and other botanical bulbs. It should be planted in generous groups rather than scattered thinly, so the slender flower form and bicolour variation are visible without looking sparse.
Clusiana types are best suited to free-draining sites where the bulbs can remain undisturbed after flowering and the foliage can die back naturally.
