Description
Tulip China Town is a Viridiflora tulip, beloved by designers for its unique green feathering on soft rose-pink petals and elegant cream margins. Blooming in late April to early May, it grows to 25–30 cm, making it suitable for refined small-scale projects, designer-led private gardens, or containerised spring installations.
Its blue-grey foliage edged in cream is ornamental before flowering begins — a valuable asset in foliage-led design schemes, gravel borders, and low-maintenance commercial installations. It performs best in full sun and freely draining, light to moderately fertile soils. For containers or heavy soils, add grit and ensure winter drainage.
China Town is especially useful in high-end courtyard designs, roof gardens, urban gravel schemes, and sensory gardens where bloom longevity and contrast are critical. Combine with Narcissus Thalia, Muscari Mountain Lady, or foliage plants.
While it is not heavily scented, China Town offers structural floral interest into May and its flared, open form provides limited pollen access for hoverflies and small beetles, particularly when planted within diverse bulb matrices.
