Description
Tulip Candy Prince is a delicately coloured Triumph tulip in soft lilac to mauve-lavender hues, often with a subtle pearly overlay that gives it a luminous, elegant quality in morning and evening light. Flowering in early spring (late March to early April), it reaches 35–45 cm in height and delivers crisp, refined structure with consistently uniform blooms. The pastel tone offers calm visual balance to vibrant companions and creates soothing highlights in more neutral schemes.
A proven performer in fertile, free-draining soils in full sun, Candy Prince thrives in formal beds, pastel-themed borders, spring containers, and as a refined early contributor to bulb layering designs. Particularly well-suited to courtyard gardens, commercial forecourts, and civic plantings where colour coordination and bloom reliability are essential.
Pairs perfectly with white or cream tulips such as Purissima, soft blue Muscari, or Narcissus Thalia. Its cool tone contrasts effectively with bright yellows or complements muted pinks for romantic displays.
While not strongly fragrant, its open bloom form does allow occasional access for hoverflies and early solitary bees. Its early flowering position makes it an important resource in biodiversity-focused beds, particularly when interplanted with low nectar-bearing herbs and perennials.
Use in groups of 10 or more for maximum impact, or blend into mixed beds to carry colour through transitional spring phases.
