Description
Tulip Calgary is a compact Triumph tulip with pristine ivory-white petals and a smooth, classic form. Blooming in early spring (late March to early April), it grows to just 20–25 cm tall and delivers crisp, clean structure and colour when most beds are still awakening. Its rounded flowers have broad, symmetrical petals that open wide on sunny days, creating a luminous effect in morning light.
This cultivar thrives in full sun and fertile, free-draining soil. Ideal for low-maintenance civic schemes, spring planters, and formal designs requiring uniform colour and tidy form. Calgary is particularly well-suited to raised beds, structured mass plantings, and front-of-border use where its neat profile won’t be overshadowed.
Tulip Calgary is excellent for pairing with blue Muscari or bright yellow dwarf narcissi for bold contrast. Its short stature makes it reliable in exposed or coastal locations, and it is a popular choice for early spring colour in municipal displays and retail forecourts.
While not strongly scented, the open bloom shape allows light pollinator access and provides early-season forage for hoverflies and bees when interplanted with nectar-rich companions. This bulb ensures uniform flowering and robust performance across Irish spring conditions.
A top candidate for mechanical planting or formalised displays in residential, educational, and commercial settings.
