Tulip Botanical Mix 6/7

Tulip Botanical Mix 6/7

Tulip Botanical Mix is a varied species tulip blend that brings together low-growing botanical tulips in a range of colours, flower shapes and natural habits, giving spring displays a lighter, more informal character than standard hybrid tulip mixtures. Plant in Irish  gravel borders, raised beds, courtyard planters, public garden collections, estate garden edges, meadow-style planting and compact commercial landscapes or anywhere compact height, mixed botanical character, naturalistic spring colour and close-view display value are required.

Description

Botanical Tulip Mix is a species tulip blend perfect for planting where the aim is natural spring detail rather than formal bedding impact. It is designed for schemes that need compact height, varied flower forms and a more relaxed planting style, making it well suited to gravel gardens, raised beds, meadow edges, courtyard planters and public garden collections. The mix may include a range of botanical tulips with star-shaped, cup-shaped, slender or open flowers in colours such as yellow, white, red, pink, purple, orange, cream and bicolour and blush combinations. Unlike a standard tall tulip mix, the value here is in variation at close range: smaller flowers, lower growth, fine foliage, open blooms in sunshine and a more natural relationship with grasses, low perennials and early spring bulbs.

Botanical Tulip Mix is best used where the planting can be viewed up close. It suits estate garden margins, public garden borders, gravel paths, raised planters, hotel garden details, courtyard containers, rockery-style beds, school gardens, heritage gardens and naturalistic commercial landscapes. It is particularly useful where a designer wants early spring interest without the heavier look of large hybrid tulips.

This mix works well with blue muscari, early crocus, low narcissus, fritillaria meleagris, fine grasses, compact alliums and simple spring perennials. In larger schemes, plant in generous informal groups or repeated drifts rather than scattered thinly. This gives the mixture enough density to read clearly while still preserving the natural botanical effect.
