Description
Tulip Blushing Lady is a statuesque lily-flowered tulip with gracefully pointed petals that open in soft primrose yellow and gently blush to warm pink near the edges. Flowering in May on tall, elegant stems (55–65 cm), it brings lightness, height, and fluid movement to spring displays, particularly in soft-toned, romantic, or wildlife-friendly garden designs.
This cultivar thrives in full sun in well-drained loam or sandy soils, preferably with neutral to slightly alkaline pH. Its slender form is best showcased in the middle or rear of borders, especially when contrasted with bolder tulip types or backed by evergreen structure. Ideal for formal mixed beds, pastel-themed estate borders, or cottage-style displays.
Blushing Lady pairs beautifully with Tulip Ballerina, Narcissus Pink Charm, and Camassia leichtlinii. Its height and colour gradation allow it to float above low perennials creating naturalistic vertical layering.
Though not strongly scented, the elegant lily-shaped bloom opens wide, providing limited but valuable landing access for hoverflies, bumblebees, and other late-spring foragers, especially when combined with surrounding nectar plants.
Blushing Lady is superb for adding drama and elegance to wedding gardens, hospitality schemes, and residential designs with high aesthetic ambition. Its colour is especially luminous in morning or golden-hour light.
