Description
Double Fringed Tulip Bastia is a truly unique tulip with both fullness and decorative edge detail. The flowers are double and heavily textured, giving a fuller appearance than a standard single tulip. The petal edges are fringed, adding a crisp, cut finish around the bloom. Tulip Bastia is generally described as a two-tone double fringed tulip with red, yellow, cream and pink tones.
Tulip Bastia is best used in premium display areas where its layered flower form and fringed detail can be appreciated properly. It suits hotel entrances, estate paths, courtyard containers, public garden borders, civic planters, business frontages and high-quality commercial landscapes. The warm red, yellow and cream tones give it enough impact for grouped planting, while the double fringed form gives the display a more specialist finish than ordinary bedding tulips.
Bastia can be planted as a single-variety feature in containers or formal beds, or combined with yellow tulips, red tulips, dark maroon tulips, blue muscari and late narcissus for a richer spring scheme.
Because Bastia has a double flower and a fringed petal edge, it is better suited to sheltered, cared-for planting areas than exposed roadside schemes. Heavy rain and strong wind can spoil open double flowers, so use it where the spring display will be protected and visible.
