Tulip Ballerina 12/+

Tulip Ballerina 12/+

A scented lily-flowered tulip in glowing orange tones. Ideal for borders, containers, and stylish late spring schemes.

Description

Tulip Ballerina is a graceful lily-flowered tulip with flared, pointed petals in a rich burnt orange hue, deepening to tangerine with flashes of copper. Reaching 50–60 cm in height and flowering in late April to May, it offers a refined vertical accent with a light, citrus-like fragrance that adds sensory dimension to spring displays.

Ballerina thrives in full sun in fertile, well-drained soil—especially in free-draining sandy or chalky loams. Suitable for formal beds, modern borders, and large containers, or as a feature plant in courtyard gardens and minimalist planting palettes. It excels in urban schemes where strong form and colour clarity are required.

Plant with purple Tulip Negrita,  or Tulip ‘Merlot for stunning contrast, or combine with wallflowers and alliums for a scent-and-colour matrix. Its bloom form is highly attractive to late spring bees and hoverflies, offering accessible nectar with strong visual cues.

Highly wind-resistant and long-lasting in bloom, Tulip Ballerina also makes an exceptional cut flower, retaining fragrance and form. In public schemes or private gardens, plant in drifts or tall colour bands for maximum visual rhythm.
