Description
Shallots Longor is a long pink shallot, often described as banana or chicken thigh type, grown for its elongated shape, coppery skin and highly aromatic flesh. It is described as early and productive, with good storage qualities, making it practical for customers who want both yield and keeping quality.
Planting window is February to April for spring planting. In mild areas some growers plant in autumn, but spring planting is the straightforward Irish retail message. Harvest is typically July to August once tops yellow and start to collapse. Cure in a dry, airy spot, then store cool and dry. Longor is also a good choice where customers want a shallot that peels easily and performs well in sauces and roasting.
