Description
Organic Narcissus Rijnveld’s Early Sensation is one of the earliest flowering daffodils in Irish gardens, often blooming from January to early February in mild regions. With deep golden-yellow petals and a broad, slightly fluted trumpet, this cultivar delivers vibrant colour when most of the landscape remains dormant. At 30–40 cm tall, it is compact but eye-catching and makes it ideal for creating early-season cheer in estate entrances, school grounds, and roadside verges.
This variety thrives in full sun and tolerates a range of soils, from light sandy loam to heavier clay with good drainage. It is particularly useful for naturalising schemes and layered perennial beds, where it emerges before other species awaken. The open flower form is attractive to early-flying pollinators such as bumblebee queens and hoverflies, supporting biodiversity during a critical window.
Pair with Crocus Romance, Iris J.S. Dijt, or snowdrops for multi-layered early bloom displays. Ideal for organic orchard underplanting, wildlife-friendly verges, or urban warming microclimates such as walled gardens.
