Description
Narcissus Sailboat is a refined and graceful multi-headed daffodil known for its subtle charm and elegant silhouette. Each bulb produces multiple slender stems reaching 25–35 cm, each topped with clusters of creamy white blooms that gently nod in the breeze. The petals emerge pale ivory and mature to pure white, contrasting beautifully with their soft primrose-yellow cups that fade to cream. Its natural poise and pastel colour palette make it ideal for planting in coastal gardens, sensory spaces, and woodland fringes where soft visual movement is valued.
Sailboat performs exceptionally in full sun or partial shade and prefers moderately fertile, well-drained soil, including loam, sandy soils, or humus-rich woodland margins. It’s well suited for naturalising in semi-wild spaces, beneath deciduous shrubs, or in lightly mulched civic borders. It also excels in pots, courtyard troughs, and layered container displays where its understated beauty can be enjoyed up close.
This variety is lightly fragrant and attracts early pollinators such as hoverflies and solitary bees. Best combined with Scilla bifolia, Chionodoxa luciliae, or early dwarf Tulips like Kaufmanniana Ice Stick for layered, low-maintenance early spring design. A top choice for public woodland walks, coastal housing schemes, memorial gardens, and school sensory borders.
