Description
Narcissus Kedron is a richly coloured, fragrant mid-season daffodil that brings a warm, earthy tone to spring displays. Its striking bronze-yellow petals surround a vibrant orange-yellow cup, creating a glowing ember-like effect that’s particularly striking in low evening light or against deep green foliage. A large-cupped Division 2 cultivar, Kedron reaches 35–40 cm and flowers reliably in mid-spring.
This variety thrives in full sun and well-drained soils, making it highly suitable for Irish borders, meadow-style schemes, and mixed bulb plantings in both urban and rural settings. Its compact growth and strong stems give it excellent resistance to weather, allowing it to stand tall in coastal gardens and exposed beds.
The light fragrance adds another layer of sensory appeal, especially in high-traffic areas like entrances, courtyards, or public planters. Kedron pairs beautifully with blue Muscari, Anemone blanda, or dusky pink tulips for a naturalistic yet harmonious contrast.
From a biodiversity perspective, Kedron provides accessible pollen and nectar for bees and hoverflies during mid-season, when queen bumblebees and early wild bees are actively foraging. It naturalises well over time, returning stronger each year and contributing to a sustainable, pollinator-supportive landscape.
Ideal for designers looking to escape the conventional yellow-white palette, Kedron offers something uniquely bold and earthy for spring.
