Narcissus Ice Follies

Narcissus Ice Follies

Large daffodil with creamy petals and a yellow-to-white flared cup. Early flowering and ideal for mass or verge planting.

Description

Narcissus Ice Follies is a stalwart of spring displays, beloved for its oversized flowers, strong weather resistance, and adaptability across planting schemes. Each bloom opens with a broad, creamy-white perianth and a large, flared cup that begins bright lemon-yellow and matures to a soft ivory that creates a shifting visual that evolves through the flowering period.

Growing to 40–45 cm, Ice Follies thrives in full sun or partial shade and tolerates heavier Irish soils, coastal winds, and exposed conditions. It naturalises strongly and is a top choice for council verge schemes, meadow transitions, or large formal drifts in parks and campuses.

Flowering in early to mid-spring, its open cup structure offers excellent access to pollinators, particularly early-flying bumblebee queens and solitary bees. It integrates well into biodiversity planting plans and combines beautifully with blue Muscari, Anemone blanda, or early tulips like Apricot Pride for layered impact.
