Narcissus Gold Disc

Narcissus Gold Disc

Compact golden daffodil with flat blooms and strong scent. Mid-spring flowering and highly attractive to pollinators.

Description

Narcissus Gold Disc is a compact and eye-catching jonquilla hybrid, known for its glowing golden-yellow blooms and sweet scent. The flowers have a flat, open-faced structure with overlapping petals and a shallow, disc-like cup which gives it a unique daffodil profile and strong visual identity in mid-spring.

Standing just 25–30 cm tall, it’s an ideal choice for low borders, gravel gardens, alpine troughs, and container schemes. It thrives in sunny, well-drained soils, particularly in urban courtyards, modern designs, and dry border edges where a shorter cultivar is required. Its fine-textured foliage is neat and unobtrusive, allowing for excellent integration into layered planting.

Gold Disc is notably rich in nectar and highly attractive to pollinators, including honeybees, bumblebees, and early hoverflies. Plant it en masse with blue Muscari, or low-growing Tulipa tarda, for a vibrant and wildlife-positive display.

Excellent for biodiversity corridors, city containers, and spring pollinator schemes where fragrance, form, and flower access are priorities.
