Description
Narcissus British Gamble is ahigh-impact, large-cupped daffodil that makes a grand statement in any spring setting. Its wide ivory-white petals surround a broad, flared peach-pink trumpet, which starts creamy yellow and matures to soft apricot-pink, offering dynamic colour shifts through its bloom. Reaching 40–50 cm, it flowers in mid to late spring, making it a strong finisher in sequential bulb displays. Known for its size, presence, and soft gradient colouring, this variety is widely used in cutting gardens, parkland displays, and public or institutional spring planting schemes that demand late-season colour and visual drama.
Best in full sun, ‘British Gamble’ excels in fertile, well-drained soils and is ideal for cutting gardens, mixed borders, and front-of-house designs. Its open trumpet supports pollinators, though its size leans it more toward ornamental impact than ecological planting. British Gamble is mechanically plantable across most Irish soils.
British Gamble pairs well with wildlife-friendly underplanting such as Allium or Muscari. Pair with Tulip Pink Impression, Muscari Siberian Tiger, or Allium Mount Everest for striking multi-season succession. It’s particularly impressive in drifts or repeating ribbons, and its impressive flower form holds up well in weather-prone areas of Ireland.
