Lilium candidum

Lilium candidum

Description

The candidum lily, or the Madonna Lily, is one of the oldest ornamental plants, cultivated for over 3,000 years. This flower bears trumpet-shaped, pure white flowers with yellow pollen centres. Each of the two-three inchs flowers is a beautiful addition to sunny flower beds, rock gardens or borders, as well as making a stunning cut flower. Lilies come into their own in groups between perennials and shrubs. After flowering, they can remain quietly in the ground and will return year after year, when they will again come into full bloom.
